C.I.T.Y. of Support invited parents to gather again for their annual day dedicated to re-charging, learning, creating, and connecting. Over 30 parents joined us at Harper College in Palatine, where we spent the afternoon listening to a variety of speakers focusing on the theme of "Building Strong Relationships" including those with spouses, family, friends, and community; a family's medical team, school team, Early Intervention team; and, importantly, one's relationship with oneself. All speakers are experts in their fields and many relate to their topic both as a professional and as a parent.
Their perspectives were appreciated by the younger parents in the audience, and we spent the afternoon capitalizing on their insight to create supports that could be incorporated into everyone's own stories.
The overwhelmingly-positive feedback we received from this retreat is inspiring us to host more events for parents in the future. As always, C.I.T.Y. of Support values connection, collaboration, and celebration, and this event was a successful manifestation of our vision. Although pre-recorded from our meeting on 9/27/25, we welcome you to listen to the stories from this year's retreat and reflect upon your own experiences, as a professional working with families in therapy.
