Description |
Congenital Cytomegalovirus (CMV) continues to be a major cause of childhood disability, and the most common, non-genetic cause of hearing loss in children. This presentation will define congenital CMV and discuss prevention strategies. The presentation will also discuss what Early Intervention providers need to know when caring for children with a congenital CMV diagnosis, and discuss myths relating to working with children who are CMV positive. Early Interventionists will also learn how to protect themselves from CMV in the workplace, particularly when working with children age 3 and under.
