Assessing and Addressing Challenging Behaviors

Description

When young children present challenging behaviors, it is often easy to become frustrated when interventions fail. This workshop presents an alternative method to assess challenging behaviors in children up to 36 months in order to more effectively address the challenge. Using video examples, participants will explore breaking down the assessment process to include precise observation skills, and to take a close look at conclusions made from such observations. Participants will utilize the work of Arnold Sameroff and the Transactional Model of Development to determine whether specific challenging behaviors require remediation, reeducation, or redefinition.
