Traumatic Brain Injury in Young Children and Implications for Intervention

Description

Infant and young children who experience traumatic brain injuries (TBI) often have long-term developmental challenges that are evident almost immediately after the injury. Referral to EI is very often part of the young child's care plan and initial support for the family. This seminar will inform the attendees about the common causes of TBI and how the brain is impacted. Case scenarios of developmental and neurological challenges will be described. Further, Dr. Nelson will explore intervention methods that have been implemented for rehabilitation of young children with TBI and are often introduced through their EI services.
