Doula In-service: Primary

Description

These in-services expand upon the Doula Basic Training and support the efforts of doulas to complete certification.

Doulas greatly benefit from opportunities to meet regularly with other doulas for education, training, and support from their peers. These in-services feature consultants who provide in-service training on core content for doulas, including: (1) the physical, emotional, and social changes young mothers experience during pregnancy, in childbirth, and following the birth of the baby; and (2) the doula’s role in supporting young families throughout this process. Doula In-Services build on Doula Basic Training, reviewing some of the same content
but enabling participants to reflect on and process that content in the context of their real doula work experiences. Primary in-services are for first year doulas. Combined in-services are for doulas of all levels of experience. Time is often included to support participants’ ongoing work toward DONA certification.
