Kids Do Well If They Can: Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS)

Description

Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), an approach for helping children with social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. The model was first described in Dr. Greene’s book The Explosive Child. The CPS approach is best understood as behavioral issues being the by-product of lagging cognitive skills rather than the result of passive, permissive, or inconsistent parenting. An explosive child’s behavior is characterized by noncompliance, temper outbursts and verbal or physical aggression - which often leaves parents feeling frustrated, guilt-ridden, and overwhelmed.
