Description |
Managing the ongoing stress of dealing with children’s and families’ mental health can feel overwhelming. We as parents and professionals (or both) need to be as capable and emotionally healthy ourselves to help care for others. One method is through Reflective Supervision (AKA Reflective Practice). This presentation will provide a basic understanding of the reflective process and examples of how it looks and when it works best. It is a tool beyond clinical or administrative supervision. It looks something like talking with a trusted friend or coworker but RP can take it to another level in our ability to monitor ourselves to improve our next steps. The concept grew out of work in early childhood mental health but can be applied in a number of settings. Guidelines to start or improve the process will be provided.
