Young children respond to music in unique ways.
Musical responses range from accurate pitch
reproduction to licking the drum. A hierarchy of
ten layers of musical involvement common to early
childhood is presented. Musical actions in each
layer are portrayed through videotaped examples. A
developmental assessment tool will be shared.
