Experiential Training for Early Start Denver Model: The Early Start Denver Model in Practice

Description

This training covers the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM) (Rogers and Dawson 2010) as it is being implemented at the Center for Autism Spectrum Disorders (CASD). The ESDM is an evidenced-based intervention for children with or suspected of having Autism Spectrum Disorder aged 1-5. This model encompasses a naturalistic teaching environment and uses teaching procedures from Applied Behavior Analysis. The training provided at the CASD will encompass how to conduct a baseline assessment and select and implement objectives from the ESDM protocol. Typical brain development and a comparison to the development of brains in children with ASD will also be briefly reviewed with implications for treatment. A complimentary copy of the ESDM Curriculum Checklist will be provided for each participant.
