Autism: An Overview

Description

This presentation discusses the onset, etiology, diagnosis, and definition of autism in children, with descriptions of the differences in medical vs. educational diagnoses, and a brief discussion of how sensory processing issues may impact a child’s development. Treatments are characterized according to the National Autism Center’s 2009 report: A Parent’s Guide to Evidence-based Practice and Autism. Videos of children (infants to early elementary) on the spectrum are used to view characteristics in real life.
