DIR/Floortime Developmental-Relational Treatment of Autism and Sensory Processing Disorder

Description

This exciting seminar will provide attendees with both conceptual and practical understandings of the assessment and treatment of children with interactive disorder, regulatory challenges and developmental delays through the developmental relational technique known as DIR®/Floortime™. Dr. Hess will share a structured framework that helps a child learn how to attend and remain calm, relate to others, initiate and respond to all types of communication. You will identify various problem-solving exercises that involve a team approach that includes speech therapy, occupational therapy, educational programs, and, where appropriate, biomedical intervention. Adaptations of play techniques utilizing Dr. Stanley Greenspan’s Developmental, Individual Differences, Relationship Based Model (DIR) will be examined for uses with these individual children as they emphasize the critical role of parents and other family members.
