Infant Massage

Description The main objective of this workshop was to learn basic Infant Massage Techniques to help with colic, bonding, calming, sensory integration, and overall development. The instructor gave specific examples of how to use strokes appropriately and in positioning the child. Some strokes can be overwhelming for a child, while others can relax and help with focus. The instructor provided dolls for participants to practice strokes and have hands on experience. The instructor also traveled the room to ensure participants were performing strokes appropriately. The instructor gave suggestions in simple songs and soothing nursery rhymes to say/sing during massage. We learned to look for cues form the child when she is overwhelmed, when she may need firmer touch, and when she wants more of the massage.
