Hawaii Early Learning Profile 2: Next Steps Maya

Description Assessing the development of young children in early intervention is an extremely complex process that involves much more than knowing how to use a particular assessment tool. This workshop offers participants who have already taken introductory level training on the HELP an opportunity to practice the skills needed to become more effective observers, recorders, and interpreters of child development using the HELP materials. Providers of all disciplines who have taken the basic HELP training are welcome to participate in this full day session of hands-on activities and facilitated group discussion.
Prior to attending HELP 2, registrants will watch the video of a child’s global assessment at

then complete the assignments: the HELP Strands Scoring Booklet (from the HELP Overview packet) and a narrative observation sheet, which are your written observations and notes while viewing the video. (These Materials were made available at the Illinois EI Training Program's H.E.L.P. Overview. If you do not have access to them, call 866/509-0227, ext 253 or ext 258 to request blank copies).

The work that goes into scoring the HELP Strands is part of what is required to receive credit hours, therefore the completed assignments need to be brought to the workshop. The trainer will be referring to and utilizing the completed assignments during small and large group activities throughout the day.

Workshop Requirements: In order to receive early intervention credits, participants must have taken an introductory HELP overview training, watch the assessment video, and bring completed assignments to the workshop. Assignments will be collected upon arrival during registration/sign in (8:30-9:00am). Registrants arriving without completed assignments will not be allowed admittance in this workshop.

Participants arriving without the assigned prep work (see description) will not be allowed admittance to this training session and will be considered a 'No Show'.
