Developing Meaningful Intervention Plans for Families and Providers

Description "The face of early intervention has changed over the years, yet the players have much remained the same: families, children and service providers. The main, overarching goals of family-centered intervention include offering a better understanding of child development, promoting enhanced parent-child interactions and relating to parents as equal partners with professionals in the planning , implementation and evaluation of services. One of the biggest challenges for service providers is to figure out how to share the knowledge and expertise they have in a given area with a family or other providers in an appropriate, family friendly and supportive manner. This workshop helps participants address these and other challenges by guiding them through a logical process of developing IFSPs. An opportunity to examine the process of gathering family information, identifying priorities and outcomes, and developing strategies that are supportive of outcomes throughout the context of the child's daily life are presented. Family stories will be used to highlight the connection between outcomes, strategies and service delivery."
