This presentation addresses early and emergent literacy skills for all students with visual impairments including those with CVI. The importance of conducting a learning media assessment no matter the age will be discussed as well as how all learners are dual media learners. The science of reading instruction will be reviewed for these young students. Case studies will be presented along with strategies for developing these important early skills in literacy.
