Description |
Most parents become advocates from the moment their baby is born. However, when you have a child with a hearing loss the path to advocacy can look different. Parents now have to learn how to navigate through the early intervention (EI) system and beyond. Advocacy, like EI, requires a relationship between families and providers and on-going parent-professional dialogue is needed throughout the process. This session will focus on the key elements in the advocacy process and how early intervention providers and educators can help support families throughout this process. The learning in this session will continue into understanding the law from a professional’s perspective and receiving techniques to use it with families for the entire time they are in EI. Discussion will involve Part C to Part B and what is next.
