Improving Motor Learning in Children (Blaufuss)

Description

Evidence suggests that creating “positive experiences” surrounding motor skills may be beneficial to promoting self-esteem and ultimately intrinsic motivation to participate in physical activity (Ensrud-Skraastad & Haga, 2020). To ensure these constructive opportunities for clients, therapists must have a thorough understanding of motor learning, and the role that feedback and practice play. This course will detail all the variables involved in successful motor learning and discuss related evidence for various populations. Additionally, simulated labs will be incorporated to explicitly demonstrate these concepts to allow participants to effectively integrate motor learning into practice.
