Join the Conversation: Occupational Therapy Perspective on Documentation, Communication and Advocacy during the Evaluation and IFSP Process in Early Intervention

Description

Come and join your OT colleagues in an ongoing conversation about current and future OT practice in EI in Illinois.  Occupational therapy practitioners working in the Early Intervention Program in Illinois are challenged with balancing the requirements of the State of Illinois Early Intervention Program with recommended best practices within the field of occupational therapy.
This course is the third of a series defining OT practice in EI in Illinois.  This course will discuss the following: 1) how to document OT evaluation results within the Illinois requirements, 2) how to communicate occupation based evaluation results for Child Outcomes that highlights the distinct value of
OT during the IFSP meeting, and 3) how to advocate for the distinct value that OT has on the EI team (with our individual cases and throughout the EI program).
This session will build on session 2 which explored the AOTA recommended evaluation practices from the OTPF-4 and AOTA Documentation Guidelines (2018) and sections of the Provider Handbook from the Illinois EI program (definition of OT,
acceptable assessment tools, evaluation report format).  Participants will engage in large and small group
discussion using active engagement, problem solving opportunities and reflection with peers to examine
how to communicate the distinct value of occupational therapy within the requirements within the Illinois
EI Evaluation Report format.  This series of conversations will build a vision
