Attuning to Childhood Adversity in EI - Intake

Description

Attuning to Childhood Adversity in EI - Intake
Using a trauma-informed lens and beginning with the intake process SC in partnership with families and service teams have an opportunity to begin to identify adversities and strengths impacting the child’s development. The administration of an open-ended trauma question to initiate adversity awareness in EI will be explored. Attention will be given to the following: SC capacity to hold and empathically respond to shared experiences, SC worries about re-traumatizing the child and family, and SC possible assumptions about a child’s prognosis. The SC will learn how to use the information gained from the trauma-informed question in tandem with the medical and developmental history, the RBI, the ASQ:SE-2 and family strengths, concerns, and priorities to inform both comprehensive assessment needs and the IFSP.
