Description |
This training will introduce participants to the intervention/communication method called Facilitating Attuned Interactions, which is known as FAN. FAN’s ultimate goal is strengthening the provider-parent relationship, resulting in parents who are attuned to their children and ready to try new ways of relating to them. FAN supports providers in engaging in the parallel process with parents by attuning to the parent's needs and supporting them in accessing their own capacity to support their child's development. This intervention method uses collaboration with parents as a means to developing strategies to facilitate children's development. FAN supports providers in maintaining their own personal regulation, so that they are ready to engage with parents and remain fully present to the parent and child throughout the session. Reflection and integration of newly learned ideas and methods for interacting with the child are areas of focus in FAN informed intervention sessions as well.
