Engaging Parents of Children with Disabilities:
A how-to webinar
Presented by Ken Moses, Ph.D.
Successful early intervention depends on establishing a constructive co-operative process between the parent and the professional. Often, parents approach such interactions with a bundle of intense emotions and expectations that can easily become the most challenging aspect of an early interventionist/developmental therapist’s work. Coming face-to-face with denying, anxious, guilty, depressed, angry and/or frightened parents can confuse, worry, frustrate and/or demoralize child-oriented professionals. This webinar will address these issues by offering a conceptual framework and a ready-to-apply methodology aimed at helping professionals find ways to proactively engage with distressed and distressing parents, all in service of strengthening the parent/professional bond for the ultimate benefit of the challenged child.
