#7360 Predicting the Level of Function in Children with Cerebral Palsy

Description

This course will probe the evidence pertaining to the Gross Motor Function Classification System (GMFCS) and its application to the clinical setting. Specifically, the course will teach the participant how to classify a patient using the GMFCS and how to use the reference curves developed by Hanna et al to predict the maximum gross motor function of a child with cerebral palsy. After the course the attendee will be able to use evidence to set goals for function, communicate with families with regard to their child’s ultimate level of function, and make sound decisions when faced with difficult questions such as timing of discharge and equipment recommendations.
