This workshop will discuss the following
* What are the similarities and differences in the key features of autism and Down syndrome diagnoses?
*What goals do families frequently identify for their children with autism?
*What goals do families frequently identify for their children with Down syndrome?
*Discussion: what have you noticed about children with dual autism and Down syndrome diagnoses in your practice?
*Common supports and barriers to occupational and community participation for children with dual diagnoses?
*What opportunities do you envision for occupational therapists to promote community participation in children with dual diagnoses?

Workshop will discuss article titled: Down Syndrome and Autism Spectrum Disorder Dual Diagnosis: Important Considerations for Speech-Language Pathologists by Theresa Versaci et al.

A case example will be presented with discussion regarding:
*Considering the occupational needs of children with a dual autism and Down syndrome diagnosis, how can occupational therapists best support families' capacity to participate in the community?
*Supporting child's mental health through "Mindfulness and Positive Psychology Activities" handout
*Identify common areas of need for children with dual autism and Down syndrome diagnosis
