Description |
One key responsibility of a Service Coordinator is assisting in the development of an Individual Family Service Plan [IFSP]. In general, children are referred to the CFC because someone believes skill development is either delayed or atypical. However, there are occasions when a child is referred secondary to a diagnosis or set of environmental circumstances that create ‘the risk’ of future problems even when no developmental challenges are evident at the time of referral. One example, is the child born with extreme low birth weight. As we move forward in early intervention we now recognize that young children who are identified as having significant ‘adverse childhood experiences’ should be considered auto-eligible for our program when they are referred by the Child & Family Services workers who are involved in supporting the family and child. This workshop will provide a review of the principles in EI that direct the Intake and IFSP development process and what special considerations may be important for children who are referred due to auto-eligible considerations.
