Primitive Reflexes: Screening, Compensation Techniques & Treatment

Description

Primitive reflexes emerge in utero and should be integrated no later than 2 years of age. Unfortunately, studies show that approximately 75% of school-aged children with learning disabilities have retained primitive reflexes, which are becoming more common and strongly impact the function of these students. Though early intervention providers may not be remediating retained reflexes (as most of them are appropriately present in the birth to three population), they will learn what to look for in each stage of early development. In addition, the strategies addressed may be practiced proactively in children from ages birth to three. Therefore, 100% of this webinar may be considered applicable for early intervention. This 2-hour course provides therapists with a screening process to identify each of these retained primitive reflexes: MORO, Tonic Labyrinthine Neck Reflex, Asymmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex, Spinal Galant, and Symmetrical Tonic Neck Reflex. Compensation techniques and treatment strategies to help integrate each reflex will also be covered.
