2022 AOK Early Childhood Virtual Mental Health Conference “Broadening our “Lens” in Working with Children and Families”: From Awareness to Action: Understanding implicit bias, structural racism and anti-racism as imperatives for equitable work with children, families and communities

Description

In this interactive, engaging, evidence-based session, Dr Ivey-Soto will bring to participants a discussion on racial literacy ideologies such as implicit bias, structural racism, anti-racism, race based traumatic stress, equity, inclusion and belonging. This will include helping participants to understand the ways that racism impacts the children, families, and communities that they work in. The presentation will also focus on what participants can do to incorporate and promote an anti-racist stance both individually and collectively within their respective workplaces and communities. Through the use of large and small group discussion, case studies, video clips and other interactive data/content Dr. Ivey-Soto will bring this important and necessary message to life for professionals working with children age brith-5 and their families.
