The Pediatric Brain (Shimkus - Live Interactive Webinar)

Description

Across the United Stated the well-known idea of Container Baby Syndrome has increased with the implementation of the “Safe to Sleep Campaign,” while it has beneficial components, infants can remain in one position for a long range of time causing developmental issues. This is only one cause among many on why kids are not moving and showing coordination problems. Ensuring the child is motor ready is paramount; the therapist must start at the brainstem level and then proceed to motor levels of assessment and treatment to gain powerful developmental change in a child. The window of opportunity is very short to implement lasting developmental change as children in therapy for longer periods of time tend to slow in progression. It is imperative that development specialists are educated on how to dig deeper with parent and caregivers to analyze routines and how it affects function. This will help therapists develop the most effective treatment plan that will show optimal results.

This one day, interactive workshop will put the pieces together for a child in the areas of interoception, regulation, modulation, sensory-motor skills and improvements with language processing and expressive communication. Participants will gain exposure to case-studies with analysis of common concerns parents and other therapists struggle with. Participants will gain proven interventions that will have a lasting effect on the development of children they work with through early intervention, school or clinical settings.
