The Basics of Sensory Processing

Description

This webinar will cover the basics of the sensory processing system. It will be appropriate for providers who are new to the field of EI, or have a background in an area which does not traditionally teach how to understand the functions of the sensory system. Participants will gain insight into how the peripheral sensory nervous system sends messages to the brain, and how that central nervous system must integrate and interpret incoming information.
Understanding the sensory system can often shed light on observed behaviors and/or coping strategies the 0 to 3 year old population may employ to respond adaptively to incoming stimuli. An overview of treatment techniques employed by therapists with be discussed, as these may be encountered and/or observed by other providers and team members working with young children.
