Reflecting on Professional Burnout: Sharing Stories

Description

Inherent in the work of an EI Provider is feeling responsible for finding ways to provide useful services to families who may range from thriving to struggling. Navigating through multiple families per day with a myriad of challenges can lead to emotional, physical, and professional burnout. Add to this an ongoing pandemic, political and racial divide, personal challenges, health concerns, and the ‘collective weariness’ of the past two years and it is no surprise that feelings of burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary traumatic stress among helping professionals are on the rise. In this reflective, interactive workshop participants will be invited to reflect on, explore, and share the feelings, stories, and potential consequences they have experienced working in a helping profession. While respecting confidentiality, participants will be able to connect with the group in discussing challenges they have faced in EI such as fluctuations in caseloads, service delivery changes, dealing with shocking situations, holding ‘heavy’ information, as well as digital burnout and zoom fatigue to name a few.
