Join CFC #19 and the Macon County Mental Health Board for a spotlight on unmet needs for mental health, developmental disabilities, and substance use services in Macon County, IL. Focus on the Future is MCMHB's triennial planning event, used to evaluate current unmet needs and prioritize funding. Results of the Unmet Needs Survey will be examined and discussed.
Following the Unmet Needs presentation, leading expert on resilience and vicarious trauma prevention, Olga Phoenix, will present on wellbeing and vicarious trauma prevention. Education, mental health, and medical professionals often change lives, eliminate human suffering, and help children and families thrive. But ongoing exposure to the trauma of others, and, as a result, stress, burnout, and vicarious trauma become unintended consequences of these professions. Strategic resilience is the key to lasting personal and professional wellbeing, as well as the primary tool for vicarious trauma prevention. This training is designed to restore, increase, and sustain your sense of resilience and wellbeing during these challenging times. You will gain a unique insight into research, myths, and facts about the science of strategic resilience and vicarious trauma prevention; learn about the neurobiology of crisis and discover three core components of creating resilience; explore practical strategies and engage in a series of step-by-step experiential exercises and assessments specifically selected to empower and inspire you to successfully integrate your newfound resilience, wellbeing, and vicarious trauma prevention kit into your life.
This event is free to attend. Lunch will be provided. Attendees can attend the full event or the speaker portion.
