Illinois Teachers of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing: Interactive Troubleshooting How to For Cochlear Implants 58th Annual Conference: IDEA and Advocacy - What You Need to Know

Description

Special Education and the understanding how to advocate take years to finesse. The presentation is taught by a parent of a now 20 year old daughter who is deaf. From advocating for her own child to now being part of EIP teams to ensure children who are deaf/hard of hearing get the services they need a lot has been learned. This session will start with basic IDEA knowledge but will expand with examples of cases that the trainer has been involved with and how they persevered. Understanding the rules of the game is key, this session hits all the right buttons for successful advocates.
I plan to amp this training up this year to include many real life examples of issues experienced in the field. The session will still include the basics, which is great for newer teachers or current students but will have a lot of practical information for those who've been doing this for a long time.
