Beyond IDEA: Setting The Course For A Successful Transition Between Part C and B Services

Description

Transitioning from Early Intervention (EI) to School-Based services is an exciting and sometimes stressful time for many families. As providers we are uniquely positioned to support families and children during this transition and help lay the groundwork for successful outcomes through proper collaboration and planning. Our session will provide attendees with the tools to identify and dismantle barriers related to the transition process from EI to schools and provide them with a template to help guide this process. We will outline the IDEA legal requirements regarding transition, review current research and resources related to facilitating a successful transition from EI to School-based services, and allow practitioners to apply this information during an interactive case study.
This presentation will be appropriate for any professional (e.g., PT, OT, SLP, teacher) or family member interested in gaining skills to support best practices in transition for children between IDEA part C and B services. New professionals practicing in EI or in School-based settings, as well as experienced providers will benefit from this evidence-based, resource-heavy presentation.
