Part 2, Movement for Learning Redefined: Sharing Advanced Strategies to Support Task Engagement, Use of Assistive Technology and Increased Functional Communication by Linking Mobility, Postural Mechanisms, Language and AAC with Children

Description

Participants will learn to shift the focus from technology to the activity in order to provide accessibility to participation and AAC for children with complex bodies. This course provides therapists the clinical reasoning to understand how children’s bodies work functionally, and what different seating/positioning equipment is needed to support sensory processing and inherent postural mechanisms. Participants will gain insight into the relationship between the motor development, cognitive exploration and how the environment impacts the use of AAC. These strategies are appropriate for the birth to three population with a variety of diagnosis.
