Infant and Toddler Mental Health: Severe emotional disturbance

Description

This training will strengthen understanding of the interaction between developmental and environmental factors upon early childhood mental health issues, specifically behavioral concerns. Participants will learn about developmental milestones and how these milestones are used to assess developmental delays and prodromal mental health concerns. We will discuss environmental and biological influences on behavior, as well as commonly occurring mental health diagnoses in children under the age of 3 years. Finally, empirically-evidenced treatment options will be reviewed.

1. Participants will understand prodromal behaviors and the importance of early detection of mental health indicators.
2. Participants will connect developmental and environmental factors to childhood mental health issues.
3. Participants will understand the connection between behaviors and potential mental health diagnoses in infants and toddlers.
