Understanding Executive Functioning in the Young Child

Description

In this workshop we will explore the executive functions of the brain and how their development...and potential problems with their development, may impact abilities and behavior. Executive functions are necessary for the individual to initiate, coordinate, manage, and follow through with everyday activities ranging for self care to play. Understanding these higher level thinking skills helps inform the early intervention provider on the purpose of early foundational cognitive skills. This knowledge helps develop observational skills as well as helps the provider in structuring activities and recommendations to help support development of these functions.
