Description |
These reflective practice groups for EI providers are intended to support the use of reflective consultation in early intervention through the framework of discussing children’s social and emotional development. Developing relationships with families is essential in providing early intervention services. A child’s social-emotional development is impacted by many factors, one of which is the quality of the relationships in the child’s life. Therefore, it is important for EI professionals to reflect on experiences that can influence their assumptions, beliefs, biases, and ability to attune to a child and family. The goal of this group is to provide a safe space for EI providers to engage in case discussions regarding supporting social and emotional development, while building awareness of their own self-regulation and self-reflection. The core processes of reflective supervision; the FAN (Facilitating Attuned Interactions) tenets; and Mona Delahooke’s skills guide on Social Emotional Development in Early Intervention will be used to guide discussions. The group and will be facilitated by Mary Valerius, Social Emotional Consultant for CFC 15. Group size will be limited to allow for discussion. Meetings will be 1.5 hours every other month via zoom for providers in Will/Grundy, Kankakee, & LaSalle Counties. The following topics and themes will be explored during meetings.
