The use of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) services and supports with very young has children has been growing over the years, but that growth continues to be slow due to limited training for professionals . This workshop with provide a discussion of AAC through a developmental lens and will explore devices through hands-on activities. Participants will learn simple tips for choosing and teaching vocabulary and will have the opportunity to explore AAC options from low- to high-tech. The workshop will end with hands-on implementation practice using common therapy activities. Discussion will include common parent questions and research-based practices for AAC in pediatric populations.
