This training will present to I/ECMHCs, aspects of the Illinois model related to co-facilitation of groups and meeting with families. These aspects of the role of the I/ECMHC include looking at supporting the center or home-based program in providing outreach, educational and support services to the communities that they serve. Consideration will be given to the role of the consultant in these activities and care in connecting with families in the larger program community. Participants will also learn about the limits of their role in various activities, and best practice in engagement with families. Participants will also look at barriers to engagement, considerations around conflict resolution and possible challenges related to perceptions of mental illness, cultural differences or other concerns families present with.
