Developing Strategies to Reduce Burnout During COVID-19 and Beyond: A Virtual Workshop

Description

Burnout has been receiving much attention lately due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Burnout is a psychological syndrome that involves a prolonged exposure to chronic stressors on the job, and carries significant consequences for individuals, teams, and organizations (Maslach and Leiter, 2017). Healthcare workers have been pushed to their limits over the past year and been faced with immense hardships, including high job and emotional demands. It is no wonder that burnout, moral injury, and compassion fatigue (or empathic distress) have plagued the healthcare industry.
This workshop includes a deep-dive into the fundamentals of burnout, including causes and symptoms of burnout, the stress-to-burnout relationship, outcomes of burnout, occupational stress models to describe burnout, and person and team-directed strategies to mitigate the harmful impact of burnout. This course provides you with the essential information on the multi-level solutions to address this complex problem that can be implemented right away.
