Understanding Feeding Struggles in Children with Autism Spectrum Disorder and How to Help!

Description

Research shows that 60-80% of children on the Autism Spectrum will struggle with feeding and/or eating issues. In order to best help prevent feeding problems, and to manage eating problems when they occur, it is important for families and professionals to first understand WHY feeding/eating is so challenging for children with ASD. This talk will discuss the unique issues for children on the Autism Spectrum which make it hard for them to consistently eat well. Then practical strategies for preventing feeding problems where possible and managing those eating challenges that do occur will be discussed.
