Vision and Development

Description

Assistive technology is an important and continuously changing tool for learning and independence when living with a visual impairment. Various applications that are ideal for students of all ages will be discussed and demonstrated. Different book devices such as the National Library Service for the Blind (NLS)/Braille and Audio Reading Download (BARD), Learning Ally, and Bookshare will be presented. In addition, the accessibility of Apple products such as iOS and Mac iOS devices and how different applications improve daily independence in the classroom and in the home will be shown. Feel free to try out what is being presented on your own device throughout the workshop. Time for questions will be provided.
