This session will focus on the relationships that develop between the early childhood professionals and the families that they serve. Relationships are important in the early childhood field. Families must know that professionals care, but how do we find that balance between empowering families and enabling them? Types of relationships, relationship roles, professionalism in relationships, establishing boundaries in relationships, and examining the impact of these relationships on families will be the focus of this session. Participants will have an opportunity to discuss and self-reflect on how this information directly relates to their professional position. Sharing of resources and possible strategies for helping families in times of need will be explored.
