Switching Hats: Teaching in School vs. Teaching in the Home

Description

?Description:? Many teachers of students with visual impairments within the field of Early Intervention also carry a full caseload of school-age students. During the course of their workday, they must “switch hats” from a student-centered educational model to a family-centered educational model. These formats have several key differences, such as program planning, teaching strategies, and service delivery. The style of family interactions may also differ as one “switches hats” from one educational model to another. During this session, a panel of vision professionals will discuss the challenges faced in this dual role and offer suggestions based on their combined experience.
