Feeding Tubes and Families: Part 2 Tube Transitions

Description

No parent ever expects that their child will need a feeding tube. While a family may recognize the importance of a tube, they often are left asking the question: "But when will my child learn to eat?!" This seminar will explore how families can support their child with a feeding tube as they prepare for a tube transition.  The speaker will explore when a child and her family may be ready to transition to oral eating.  The workshop will emphasize the importance of helping children build internal motivation through hunger, taste, and enjoyment of family mealtimes. This workshop will include case studies and a conversation with a parent who supported her daughter during a transition from being G-Tube fed to becoming an oral eater.
