The Growing Brain - Understanding the Role of Relationships and Attachment in Social-Emotional Development

Description

This training is based on material from Zero to Three’s Series “The Growing Brain” – This particular webinar looks at the key lessons learned from nature that relationships undergird all human growth, especially infants and toddlers. Everything that happens for a child happens in the context of that child’s relationship. The first, and most important relationship that helps a child succeed in the Social-Emotional developmental domain, is the parent/child relationship. From that basic dyad comes the potential for success in all other relationships. Decades of research indicate that the early years of life are a period of exponential brain development, characterized by great opportunity and vulnerability, dependent on the relationships and environment in which the child is growing. This innovative training focuses on giving home visitors, parent educators, and center-based staff evidence-informed strategies with which to prepare parents for their vital role in building healthy brains.
