The purpose of this presentation is to describe the visual skills and visual spatial concepts necessary for achieving developmental milestones and for successful learning in the classroom. The signs and symptoms of visual skill deficiencies as well as suggestions for compensation and visual skill development will be shared.
80% of the sensory information that reaches the brain travels through the visual pathwayTracking, binocular vision and accommodation skills responsible for information acquisition will be described. The developmental experiences necessary for advancing visual spatial processing skills will be reviewed. Screening tests, signs and symptoms to differentiate visual skill deficiencies will be reviewed. Appropriate accommodations in the classroom for visual difficulties will be shared.
