Description |
This workshop will demonstrate how evidence, family values, and clinical expertise intertwine in 22 different clinical case studies. Participants will be provided with concise summaries and quality appraisals of current empirical literature on a variety of assessment, intervention, and professional topics in early childhood communication disorders.
By attending this course, participants will be able to assess the quality of evidence by looking for certain quality control measures (such as treatment fidelity, inter-rater reliability, and research designs) when evaluating empirical literature. As a result of this course, participants will be able to integrate research with family values and clinical expertise into their clinical decision-making. After attending this course, participants will be able to describe current research trends in a variety of topics related to early childhood communication disorders.
Individual case studies will be led by Northern Illinois University Speech-Language Pathology graduate students under the supervision of Allison Gladfelter, Ph.D., CCC-SLP. Dr. Gladfelter is an Assistant Professor at Northern Illinois University who specializes in language acquisition, word learning, and childhood communication disorders.
Registration covers informational handouts, live presentations with real-life clinical applications, and a Certificate of Attendance.
