First Things First: Feeding 101

Description

We are beginning to see greater number of young children presenting developmental feeding disorders. Frequently Early Intervention Therapists want to treat children with feeding problems but they do not know where to start. This workshop will help therapists understand the basic skills necessary for a therapist to begin treating developmental feeding problems. It will give them a framework to understand how to observe a child’s behavior and integrate their knowledge of basic swallowing function, biomechanics of eating, developmental variables including motor skill, self-feeding skills, and psychosocial aspects to establish developmentally appropriate goals for young children. Therapist will leave this training with some solid ideas as to what to do in the feeding therapy sessions.
