Connecting with the Child to Reduce Challenging Behaviors

Description

Challenging behaviors can hinder therapeutic progress of any child in the Early Intervention system. Early Intervention providers are confronted with these challenging behaviors everyday in the work that they do. Early Intervention providers are in a unique position to model problem solving and healthy strategies to addressing these troublesome behaviors. This training will address the importance of connection with the child, how connection can alter the child’s brain state, how and when to appropriately use redirection, strategies for mealtime, and the importance of giving choices. Participants are encouraged to bring specific case examples to discuss.
