Description |
As a precursor to a year-long professional learning initiative at Childs Voice School, this 6 hour introductory session will explore the concept of the development of Theory of Mind (ToM) in children who are d/hh and its implications for creating robust auditory, sociolinguistic and literacy environments at home and in school. With an ultimate goal of generating a program-wide, spiraling curriculum for the development of ToM, especially through story sharing and children’s literature, this professional learning activity will create a level playing field of knowledge and associated skills for all providers in the program. Program outcomes include the creation and adoption of a rubric to guide the identification of developmentally appropriate language and literacy tasks to assist all providers in recognizing their respective roles in the ToM initiative.
